Associate Professor Mark Frydenberg graduated from the University of Melbourne School of Medicine in 1982 and was warded his FRACS in Urology in 1990. He was the Urologic Oncology Fellow at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, Minnesota 1991-1992, and returned to Melbourne at that stage, establishing a career in that sub-speciality . He was appointed to the Chair of the Department of Urology, Monash Medical Centre in 1997 and continues to hold that position currently. Mark was appointed as Associate Professor in the Department of Surgery, and in the Monash Institute of Medical Research (MIMR), Monash University, as well as the Clinical Head, Centre of Urologic Research, MIMR in 1998.
He is currently the Chairman of the Urologic Oncology Special Advisory Group of the Urological Society of Australia and New Zealand, and Board Member of Andrology Australia . He has published more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in the medical literature, has been an invited speaker at many national and international meetings, and was the Cancer Council of New Zealand's guest orator for 2008 . He is a regular reviewer for medical journals such as Urology, Journal of Urology , BJU International, Brazilian Journal of Urology as well as ANZ Journal of Surgery and Medical Journal of Australia. Mark is also on the board of management of the recently-formed ANZUP cancer trials group.
